• Read the battlefield. Enemy attacks are telegraphed before they land — outthink them, don't outluck them.
• Use the terrain. Move, take cover and hold ground on grid maps where every tile counts.
• Build a veteran squad. Soldiers level up and gain relics over a run.
• Permadeath. When someone falls, they're gone for good.
